ANNOUNCING WEBLOG TAGS
Now you can tag your weblog posts! Many of you have asked for an easy way to categorize your posts, so Patrick and Janet added Weblog Tags to help you do just that
.A few examples of how I might use Weblog Tags (check out all my tags here):
- Write a post about my friend’s wedding and tag it with “wedding” and “beautiful”
- Make a photo collage of my last vacation and tag the post with all the sights I saw
- Post an announcement about the new Weblog Tags and tag it with “tags”
Soon we’ll be launching global Weblog Tags, and you’ll be able to search for interesting public posts by tags. But for now, check out the changes to our Editor and try adding tags to your posts – both old and new!

I’m running Firefox on Mac OSX. On the default and alternative editors, the editor hangs for a long time before giving the message that video.xanga.com is timing out.

Good job on the SEARCH ENGINE OPT OUT. I would still prefer a robots.txt for the whole site but I can understand. How would xanga advertise if they weren’t in the search engines? I was thinking about it, and I’m pretty sure that if I leave a comment on someone else’s site who isn’t using the meta tag, I’ll be index in the search engine. Btw, you all are going to have fun trying to keep copywrited music files off of audio xanga.

The Tag option does not show up on my editor (alternative version). Are you still in process of integrating it? or could the problem be on my end?? I noticed once yesterday after changing my editor to the old version, the Tag option showed up, but then it disappeared and has been gone since.

Ok question for you!! Are the tags ONLY supposed to show up on our comment page IF we assigned a tag for that entry?? And also, I use the latest “alternative” editor and it has NO tag option on it. It only shows up as an option if I click on “editor not working” and get the older version that pops up.
What about signatures? I’d like to have a siggy on my blog!

I’m running Safari on my Mac OS X 10.4.7 machine and whenever I go to edit a post I just wrote, my Currently (usually listening or reading) resets itself. I’m not hitting anything different, and it happens every single time.
Please get this to stop from resetting itself!

Interesting. I used to check on footprints and see how people got to my page via Google. It was mostly to do with articles about a German Church’s nude calendar and anything else at all to do, no matter how vaguely with sex. Until I got rid of it a blog about West Indian food including cock soup, which is what we call chicken soup here got a lot of hits: people must have been so disappointed when they didn’t find anything spicy (unless you count the Scotch Bonnet peppers – among the hottest in the world – we put in the soup). So I suppose popularity can be achieved by tagging blogs “breasts” “nude”, not to mention ”schoolgirl” “pr0n” and any of those other buzz words that NetNanny et al doesn’t like!
So what with Xanga’s proactive stance (these days) on Protecting Our Youth (mostly against their own wishes, but still, the intentions are good and the fines are high) are you going to do about tags that might sound extremely xxx-rated but might, in fact, be quite innocent?
