Didn’t quite know how to get this to the xanga team and you are the most recent update so I will leave my story for you as a comment.

The internet, the information super highway, it is an instant connection to the world. They say one can find anything on the Web these days, but never did I expect to find my husband-to-be.
I learned about Xanga through my youth group, someone had created a blog ring as an attempt to keep everybody better connected. I created an account and joined the blog ring. I never really updated much because it felt like I was keeping a diary, but letting anyone who wanted to read it. In the end I decided to abandon the whole Xanga craze.
A few months later I went for a weekend preview for prospective students at the college I was planning to attend. While I was there I received a flier about the admissions team using Xanga to connect the incoming freshmen. After some debating with myself I decided to open a new account to stay in contact with the people I had met and get to know the other people starting in the fall. Once again I created an account and joined the blog ring. I began to comment on people’s pages and one day in December while I was browsing the list of members a picture of a guy with a big smile and an interesting name caught my attention. I decided to comment and introduce myself. He soon replied with a forward but cute comment about me being beautiful and not caring about making my boyfriend jealous. I in turn responded that I didn’t have a boyfriend and didn’t mind being called beautiful either.
And so it began. Through some further commenting I learned that he was from Florida, quite a ways from where I was at in Arkansas. He was actually going to start school in January for the spring semester; I should add campus is only two hours from my house. We continued commenting starting a kind of game where we would ask each other questions to get to know each other better. There was definitely a connection, even if we didn’t see it right away. Eventually after he was on campus we began to IM and even got brave enough to exchange phone numbers. We talked on the phone a few times and continued to comment and IM.
I am not going to lie, what we had wasn’t perfect. There were times when he talked about girls he had met on campus or wouldn’t comment for a while and it was tough. In February, I made another visit to campus with my parents and despite being in the same place at the same time we never actually met. In made me wonder if anything was really going to come of all this.
Not long after that visit I decided to step out on a limb and ask him if he wanted to take me to my senior prom. Weeks went by and he didn’t respond to my email and this I was more than just a little hurt. Than out of the blue I got a comment saying he had just read the email and we needed to talk. After some planning and discussion with my parents it was decided we would go get him from school and he would come stay the whole weekend at my house.
Everything seemed to be going perfect for a change until the week of prom I got bad sick and was admitted to ICU. It seemed that things just weren’t meant to be. Then I ended up being discharged two day before prom. My brother, sister-in-law, and myself drove to campus to get him. We pulled up at his dorm and went inside to wait for him to finish getting stuff together. After about five minutes and several people who were not him coming down the stairs, it happened. It was one of those fairytale slow motion moments every girl dreams about. He turned and saw me at the end of the hall we walked to each other and he leaned down to give me a big hug (he is 6’1 and I am 5’1). In that moment I knew there was no one else for me. We had an amazing weekend, became an official couple, and had our first kiss. Next began the nightly phone calls and seeing each other every other weekend. About a month after prom weekend, he left to spend the summer at home in Florida and I was left in Arkansas. In July I did get to go and stay two weeks with him and his family. We then flew back to my house and got ready to start school. Next thing we knew we were on campus and getting to see each other everyday and it was amazing.
On September 15, my parents wedding anniversary and just a mere five months after we had met for prom, the most amazing guy I know drove two hours to ask my parents in person for permission to marry me. Than drove back to school and proposed. So now here we are a little over a year since that first comment planning our wedding on December 7, 2008. This just goes to show that not every person you meet on the internet in some pervert, not do you need to resort to some cheesy dating website to find love. Love can find you anywhere at anytime in anyway. So to close my story, thank you Xanga for helping me meet my soulmate, best friend, and soon to be husband.
